About our Founder Headmaster Paul clery
Head Master Clery started studying karate at the age of 15 years in St.Lucia. He first started with independent Karateka Sensei Butcher whose system had no Belt and now lives in St. Martin. The name of his style is Haw-ken-do a style he founded in the 80's and still mastering his art to date. Head Master Clery later studied Shotokan Karate and boxing under his Brother Rosemond Clery, Shotokan and Wing Chang with a few other independent fighters. He later joined the Clifton Sealy College of Martial arts under now Grand Master Clifton Sealy, Xavier Martial Arts Academy under Grand Master Felix Xavier. But as he trained with these Grand Masters, Head Master Clery always felt that something was missing in his training and felt that if Gichin Funakoshi (1868–1957) founded his style Shotokan karate created Shotokan Ryu , he can do the same and so he created Gee-Ryu Karate-Do which he name after his wife Gee. Gee-Ryu Karate means surprise - strength - empty hand and is a close body contact self-Defense that elevate the whole man In 2009 Head Master Clery, after years of training and researching, thought the time was right to come out in the open and introduce to St.Lucia his newly created style Gee-Ryu Karate -Do. He first had to register his style which he did. To date Head Master Clery is still working very hard on his style and have started teaching Gee-Ryu Karate-Do in a back yard at Pavee Rd in Castries were he teach for free in his dojo he name the Blue Dragon dojo and later founded the St.Lucia Combat Martial Art’s Gee-Ryu Karate Association . Although he never trained with the big martial’s art’s name‘s of the world be Head Master Clery credits his time trained with the great names of martial arts from St.Lucia and thank all of them for the teaching that they gave to him.

Karate is from the heart, my belt is the earth yet I have excel And founded the Gee-Ryu karate concept, which the most high superior grandmaster, God have handed down to me not by dreams or visions but by the greatest tool that god gave to man, the brain. I can not fly, not a karate champion and suddenly can not break stones. What I am? A teacher of Gee-Ryu and I teach karate so study’s will live to see another day so may it be.
